EU Commission publishes ICT 2010 networking call for proposals

The European Commission published on 25 January 2010 the call for proposals for the Networking Sessions at ICT 2010, the main annual Commission-backed information and communication technologies event. The deadline for submissions is 15 April 2010.

ICT 2010, which will take place in Brussels on 27-29 September 2010, will host dozens of networking sessions designed to facilitate contacts between researchers, innovators, engineers and investors from all fields of digital innovation.

Networking sessions offer the opportunity for forward-thinking ICT 2010 participants to set up collaboration initiatives. This is a chance to help the European Commission to focus the agenda of ICT and build future partnerships with the right people.

Proposals for networking sessions are welcome in the following areas:

* All scientific and technological subjects directly related to ICT
* All the ICT-related components of the Seventh Framework Programme - FP7 (Cooperation, Ideas, People and Capacities), the ICT Policy Support programme (ICT PSP), EU ICT policies, international cooperation, technology platforms and public private partnerships.

The Networking Committee will select the most interesting proposals, in accordance with the networking selection criteria, as well as the time and facilities available during the event. The Networking Committee will make all arrangements concerning the scheduling, venue, etc. of the networking sessions, which will be programmed over the three days of ICT 2010 in September 2010.

Background information

Organised by the European Commission and hosted by the Belgian Presidency of the European Union, ICT 2010 is Europe’s most visible forum for ICT research and innovation. A biennial event, it features a conference, an exhibition and several networking sessions. It has become a unique gathering point for researchers, business people, investors, and high level policy makers in the field of digital innovation. ICT 2010 will focus on policy priorities such as Europe’s Digital Agenda and the next financial programme of the European Union for funding research and innovation in ICT.
